The (NEXSTAR) Wildlife officials in Montana said on Tuesday that avian flu tests on three young grizzly bears who were discovered lost and afflicted with neurological problems like partial blindness were positive. According to Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the bears were found to be in bad condition last fall and were put to death.

In a news release, FWP Wildlife Veterinarian Jennifer Ramsey stated, “We assume these mammals likely get the illness through feeding infected birds.” Near northern Montana, one was discovered in Augusta, another in Dupuyer, and the third in Kalispell.
